Project Pearl box

The main and key element of this project is a sphere that you open, and inside, nestled in hay, you find a little bird holding a small vial in its beak, with seeds hidden inside. Then, according to my idea, you separate the sphere, fill it with soil, place the seeds inside, and wait for this beauty to grow.
This entire process is accompanied by the flickering of a candle, which you light and place nearby in a holder.
And now the most important part—the opportunity to say everything in a farewell letter. For this, I have specially prepared an envelope with blank A4 sheets labeled “Memory Letter.” Let the words flow onto the paper by themselves. Release these painful memories. Give space to these feelings and moments—gently, without force.
Cry. Tears are healing. Let the silence be with you. Or maybe you will feel like singing a lullaby as a farewell.
This little one was, is, and always will be in your heart. And now you are saying goodbye in order not to forget. You are giving space to this loss—and that is the greatest value: to remember. To remember for as long as you live.

The Idea Behind the Project:

Every small detail is part of a whole, and each of these elements allows you to experience a complete and deeply meaningful ritual.
Light a candle. Arrange everything in front of you. Open the sphere and find inside a little bird holding a vial with seeds. Then, gently plant the seeds in the soil and wait for the flowers to grow.
In the meantime, you can enjoy the process of growth, keep a memory journal, and have a beautiful opportunity to write a “memory letter” to your unborn child—or children—who chose a different path and will forever remain in your heart.
This is the ritual I have created, but you are free to choose your own way of honoring and remembering these little souls.

Reason for Creating the Pearl Box:

This project was created for my unborn children as a symbol of memory and an ongoing connection with them.
Yes, this is the foundation of my idea.
So, how many children do I have? I am a mother of three. But only one child was born—Arinka, who is already twelve years old (as of 2025).
Therefore, this project is primarily aimed at perinatal loss and offers an opportunity to honor the memory of:
unborn babies lost for various reasons: miscarriages, ectopic pregnancies, fetal demise, multiple pregnancies, molar pregnancies, abortions, and terminations when a life-threatening condition was diagnosed or when pregnancy was ended to preserve the mother’s health;
stillborn babies;
early neonatal deaths.

This project can also be used in relation to other types of loss. Every loss has the right to be acknowledged, accepted, mourned, and honored through the ritual of this project.

Seeds of the Orliki flower, or columbine:

This is a charming and very elegant flower that can decorate your windowsill, garden, or even terrace or balcony. It impresses with its delicacy and variety of colors, turning flower beds into a magical place. It is a special plant that is hard not to recognize and love, one of the most common flowering perennials for shaded areas. A lush pillow of lacey foliage looks joyful and bright. And the blooming of columbines is associated with many myths and legends. Like fairy creatures flying in the air, columbines have enchanted more than one generation of artists and poets. The special, hidden beauty of columbines requires attention to detail. These herbaceous perennials have a very powerful, deep, top-thickened taproot and straight branched shoots up to 1 m high. A lush rosette of basal, lacey, trifoliate, emerald, sometimes mottled leaves looks elegant.Delphiniums, up to 10 cm in diameter, with simple or double flowers, are colored in various shades — white, cream, pink, blue, lilac, blue, purple. They are gathered in sparse terminal inflorescences on thin and tall flower stems. The structure of the flower, with five teardrop-shaped petals forming a peculiar hood-corolla, and a pointed cap of sepals above them, is distinctive and interesting.

All elements are made of epoxy resin with the addition of gold leaf.  Original colors of the items:  the sphere and the candle holder are transparent with gold added; the figurine and birds are gold or in other arbitrary colors (transparent, gold-amber, neon yellow, blue-turquoise, sea wave);  notebooks - transparent with gold added or silver with glitter added.
The color can be either more intense or lighter, and it is impossible to say with 100% certainty in advance that the color will be precise; the color behaves differently each time. Because the color cannot be made uniformly in bulk, this creates the uniqueness of each individual project.
Changes can be made upon request. For example, the sphere can be made colored or have dried flowers added inside instead of gold.

This project can be used as an instruction to follow, or you can do everything according to your own discretion, for example, use the sphere as a jewelry box or a small dish for trinkets, or simply as a decoration in a room or space. You can place twinkling lights inside, which will turn the sphere into a glowing night light. Let your imagination flow with me!

I wish you bright memories and peace in your heart! With deep respect for your loss, Iryna F.
