The Line of LifeA Book of Memories

Omnis homo vult audiri. Naturale est

Everyone wants to be heard. It is natural. It is innate

Memory projects are not only about preserving a connection. They are something much deeper and broader.
First of all, for most people, the phrase “memory projects” is associated with the dead. And that is neither good nor bad — it is simply one part of a much bigger idea. At least, it is part of mine. Let me try to put into words on paper how I see and feel it.
When I first began exploring this subject, it was only natural that my first thoughts about when it might make sense to create a memory project revolved around two points:
- creating something meaningful as a person approaches the end of their life;- creating a project to honor the memory of a loved one who has died.
And if we consider these two points specifically, then we can certainly talk about the process of grief and about the possibility of maintaining a connection with a deceased person. Because the connection does not simply end or disappear — it transforms.
This is where there is both a place and an opportunity to talk about Dennis Klass’s Continuing Bonds theory. I will not go into his theory in detail, but I would like to highlight the parts that resonate particularly strongly with me:
- continuing bonds can support healthy adaptation and a natural way of experiencing grief and mourning;- continuing bonds are an integration of a relationship — a relationship that changes over time.
And most importantly, although many people do not share the view that maintaining a connection with someone who has died is important, and may even consider it unhealthy, the truth is that a bond either exists or it does not. It is a continuation of the relationship that existed before death — as Dennis Klass puts it.
And everything depends on the relationship that existed during life.
Therefore, preserving a connection through the creation of a memory project is not something wrong or unhealthy. Quite the opposite. It is an opportunity to give an invisible connection a tangible form — to transform precious memories into something physical.
And think about how many such things you have already seen, heard, or touched: books, paintings, works of art, chapels and cathedrals, monuments, streets named after people, support groups, trees and parks, poems and songs, universities — and, more recently, digital objects and projects.
In reality, each of us wants to leave a trace of ourselves behind. We want to leave something meaningful.
In a way, memory projects can give us a sense that our existence matters.
But I had not yet finished thinking about when exactly such projects can be created.
So I went further, and my reflections led me to realize that we can create something meaningful here and now. We do not have to wait until old age, until we receive a terminal diagnosis, or until we postpone everything to the very last day — because that day may come unexpectedly, much sooner than we ever imagined.
And then what?
A missed opportunity.
Memory projects do not have to be created only for people who have died. They can be dedicated to our beloved pets, or even to something intangible — an experience, a chapter of life, or a particular event.
From my own experience, I have created memory projects for my unborn children, for my extended family, and for my younger self.
Yes, I created something dedicated to me — to the little girl who was once lonely and created a game for herself. Years later, as an adult, I recreated it from memory.
I also have a project that I created in memory of a business I lost.
And my projects did not end there.
There are still countless interesting ideas ahead of me, waiting for the right time to become real. You can create your own memory project, too — and I can help you with it.

What's the value of the Book of Memories?

As long as I live, I will remember the words of my teacher, who, by the way, is also a wonderful psychologist and a person with a big heart: 'Never doubt your own worth.' Every book carries a value that can never be burned by a bonfire or destroyed by a storm. It is impossible to erase from the trees of family lines the DNA of those who lived before us, those who still walk the Earth, and those who will come after. This is a global memory that has the right to EXIST, and not only in inherited words.

It just so happens, psychologically, that everyone wants to leave a mark, something valuable, to feel that they didn’t live this life in vain and that they will be remembered. The phrase “if youth knew, and age could” really gains meaning and full-color context when you actually start to understand what it’s about. And it’s possible to combine and bring this to life by sharing all your life’s experiences through stories on the pages of a book. To pass on knowledge and experience.

For everyone, without exception; For the older generation – grandmothers and grandfathers who want to share their own stories and family histories with their children, grandchildren, and leave memories for future generations; For adult children of elderly parents who want to know more about them and ensure that memories from the first-hand source are preserved for descendants; For moms who want to leave important messages for their daughters and sons; For dads who want their sons and daughters to know about the events of important days; For citizens of the world who want to tell about important dates or events, either personal or family-related, for their own families and society as a whole. These books can be created either for a single person or for the whole world.

Context:What exactly should be included on the pages of a manuscript?First and foremost, the person who wants to create such a book usually knows the answer best. But sometimes you may want to add something of your own and simply not know how to approach it. In that case, something like visual familiarity and inspiration can work beautifully. You can simply walk through bookstores and explore the books on display, looking at their formats, covers, layouts, and ideas. And then there is us — the people who can help you create the core of your book, beginning with a particular story and continuing all the way to the cover. What Can You Add to Those Pages That Are Still Empty? It might be a particular story from your life, or an entire collection of different stories that you want to leave for future generations.Perhaps some of them will be joyful, while others may be sad or even brutally dark. All of this is part of your inheritance. These are your lines of life. You may also want to include stories about your family or your lineage. What those stories will be, who or what they will be about — only you know that. And only you have the right to decide whether a particular event belongs in your manuscript or should remain outside of it.We can also add photographs to your stories — photographs preserving moments connected with people, animals, nature, particular events, or certain states and experiences. The book can be created either in full color or in black and white.

When can a Book be a good idea?

Agree that a lot of ideas we wanted to bring to life never made it to the implementation stage just because we were afraid of judgment, of being shamed, embarrassed, and so on? And now? What’s stopping you from writing the book you’ve always dreamed of? It’s just your idea, your plan, and your desire, which can be brought to reality.

What can the Book be replaced with?

Here, your imagination will speak, because memory projects have neither a beginning nor an end, and there are no limits to creativity. Memoir books are one of the elements included in the 'Memory Projects,' and you can create something that will definitely be unique and one-of-a-kind, as it will be your project, with your character, style, and charisma.

  • Interview

Over a cup of fragrant tea or coffee — or perhaps something a little stronger — our dialogue will begin.
You will share the stories you want to preserve within the pages of your book.
The meetings can take place online, offline, or in a hybrid format.
To make the conversation feel natural while also keeping it structured, the interviewer will have a prepared set of questions to guide the conversation.

Interview Languages:I conduct conversations in Ukrainian and Russian. If your native language is different, an interviewer who is a native speaker of your language will be invited to take part.At the moment, the following languages are available:English, Dutch, Polish, Malay, Turkish and Spanish.

  • Editing

All of your stories will be put onto paper in whatever order you choose.
This means that the book will be unique not only because it is your book, but also because the way your life events are presented will have its own distinctive style.
The editor will help make your stories more readable by checking the text for grammatical, spelling, and punctuation errors. At the same time, your personal style and manner of expression will be taken into consideration.
Perhaps there will be certain phrases that should not be corrected at all — phrases through which your family and loved ones will be able to feel your spirit from within the pages.
In other words, your book will carry your character, your style, and your own way of expressing yourself.

  • Design, Layout, and Other Publishing Details

At this stage, all of your stories come together and become a book — pages filled with stories, photographs, drawings, and other elements created according to your individual wishes.
The cover is selected: its type, color, and title.
At the final stage, you will review the version prepared for printing. Once you approve it, the book will be sent to print.

P.S. When I was writing this section for the project, a butterfly kept accompanying me. It appeared out of nowhere and enjoyed every little flower on my balcony. I hope this is a good sign!
